Women face threats to their daily living and wellbeing as a result of their lack of power and influence in society. For sustainable development of a country, women empowerment by improving their socioeconomic status is essential.
Polli Unnayan Mahila Sangstha (PUMS) is located in Nandile, Mymensingh. This organization was founded by some dedicated local social workers in 2019 which is registered under the Ministry of Women affairs. PUMS is committed to empower disadvantaged rural women through training, education and support. In January 2021, Rupantor training centre (RTC) initiated some skill development training which were funded by CABD. With the guidance of RTC, PUMS grew rapidly and accommodates over one hundred members at present.
Program components
Ongoing educational and training activities that are being conducted by RTC for the members of PUMS can be categorized as follows,

Overview: Access to education is a fundamental human right and a critical driver for the development of rural communities. In the village of Deopara, Munshigang, Bangladesh, many talented and brilliant students face financial hardships that hinder their ability to continue their education. This often leads to a loss of motivation and deprives them of the opportunity to receive a quality education, which is essential for their personal development and the growth of the community.
Objective: The primary objective of this proposal is to establish a scholarship program at Deopara Govt Primary School. The scholarship aims to offer financial support to primary school students who demonstrate academic excellence but face financial difficulties. The scholarship program will be inclusive, offering support regardless of race, age, gender, religion, or language. Specific goals are:

Accessibility to education is a basic human right and promotes the development of rural communities. Many talented students in rural areas experience financial hardship to continue their education. In particular, many brilliant students from elementary schools do not enough financial support to continue to colleges. These underprivileged students are deprived of quality education.
The objective is to establish a scholarship at Joradah High School, in the village of Joradah, Harinakundu Upazila, Jhenaidah, Bangladesh in order to offer financial supports to those students who are brilliant but experience financially hardship regardless of race, age, gender, religion, and language.
The prime objective of this scholarship is to facilitate the following areas of human development:
• Making solid foundation of English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics,
• Basic computer skills: Microsoft Office, email exchange, etc.,
• Useful and optimum use of Internet resources.
Computer Vocational Training (CVT) for Underprivileged Children, Adolescent Girls, Youth and Women at Dhaka, Bangladesh. This is a three years project started in 2018.
The main objective of the proposed project is to provide computer training to the orphans and underprivileged children, adolescent girls, youth and women with focus on computer literacy surrounding areas of Zigatola, Rayer Bazaar and Hazaribag. Taking a step forward, we would like to emphasize on creating opportunities for the children to develop technical/vocational skills that will enable them to be self-sufficient and secure more employment opportunities.
The project proponent has procured computers and related accessories to provide computer training to the orphans and underprivileged children. They have recruited course instructors and started providing training. 54 trainees were trained in 2019.
Current year, CABD is planning to provide more support in this project.
Pirkhain High School was founded and started with a foundation stone in a paddy field in 2003 with assistance from CABD and many Winnipeggers.
It has now become a model high school in the area with high demand from students from surrounding villages in southern part of rural Chittagong with enrolment of more than 600 students in five classes from grade VI to grade X.
Most of the students are coming from below average income group of the rural community. The school committee in its wisdom is continuously working to expand the current capacity of the school by adding additional class room facilities, logistics and technical facilities for the existing students as well as to accommodate additional influx of students.

The project was developed in Dhaka, Bangladesh in coordination with CABD and Shandeepon in 2012-2013. Objectives:
The Rupantor Training Center (RTC) in Dhaka, Bangladesh, has been established in 2020 to empower underprivileged communities in Bangladesh. With this objective, rural women in Bangladesh will be provided with the expertise to produce and process healthy food and earn a living. Training programs for Organic Hydroponics and healthy food processing will be offered to the members of "Polli Unnoyon Mohila Songstha”, Mymensing, an all-women cooperative society. At present, most of the members are unemployed with no income to support themselves or their family.
Each program is equipped with skill-specific training and education on health, nutrition and environmental awareness. Upon successful completion of training, RTC will coach and guide the participants to develop entrepreneurial skills. The participating trainees will be able to support their own livelihood as well as will directly contribute to the country's economy.
The RTC Director Mr. A. Kalam, who is the Project Coordinator, has extensive experience in working with rural and marginalized communities in Bangladesh.
